After hearing that QT has convinced Ennio Morricone to come out retirement to score his new film I've been on a film soundtrack/score binge lately.
I'm a huge fan of Ennio Morricone, in particular his work in Sergio Leone's Westerns. Leone's films are spectacular, but Morricone's scores cemented their cult status. Listening to The Man With A Harmonica track from Once Upon A Time In The West immediately transports you to (what is without argument the greatest showdown) Fonda and Bronson facing off at the end of the film. Best use of harmonica in a score and onscreen.
Here are some other scores/soundtracks to films that absolutely transport you to the specific scene in the film and evoke the feelings/sentiments/mood of the film.
