After hearing that QT has convinced Ennio Morricone to come out retirement to score his new film I've been on a film soundtrack/score binge lately. I'm a huge fan of Ennio Morricone, in particular his work in Sergio Leone's Westerns. Leone's films are spectacular, but Morricone's scores cemented their cult status. Listening to The Man With A Harmonica track from Once Upon A Time In The West immediately transports you to (what is without argument the greatest showdown) Fonda and Bronson facing off at the end of the film. Best use of harmonica in a score and onscreen. OTHER SCORES Here are some other scores/soundtracks to films that absolutely transport you to the specific scene in the film and evoke the feelings/sentiments/mood of the film. ONLY GOD FORGIVES - DIR. NICOLAS WINDING REFN Score by Cliff Martinez AGUIRRE: WRATH OF GOD - DIR. WERNER HERZOG Score by Popol Vuh SCARFACE - DIR. BRIAN DE PALMA Score by Giorgio Moroder THE GODFATHER - DIR. FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA Score by Nino Rota TERMINATOR 2: JUDGEMENT DAY - DIR. JAMES CAMERON Score by Brad Fiedel
